Take a Virtual On-Line Tour and learn all about what our kids will see and experience!

Ohio Governor’s Residence and Heritage Garden
358 North Parkview Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43209

First Lady Frances Strickland made good on her remarks made to our students at the WASC during our Lights On After School rally, inviting them for a visit to the Governor's residence in Bexley.  We are busy making plans, learning about Ohio government, and preparing hostess gifts for this special opportunity. Learn more about this "highlight" in next week's update.

WASC Salutes Our Veterans & Troops
The students and volunteer mentors have been busy creating personalized cards to send to soldiers stationed overseas as a project for a group entitled 'For the Troops' - a local chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America, a national organization of family members, friends, and those interested in helping our soldiers.

Local group members pack and mail about 40 care packages to troops each month. Local Chapter President is Roseann Elliott of Bremen. Secretary-Treasurer is Sally Hughes.

Letters from WASC students "For the Troops" We thank Paul Frick, WASC Volunteer and Korean War Veteran, for sharing his experiences and thoughts with our kids

Random Acts of Kindness

at the West After School Center

The WASC students are learning about paying forward by performing Random Acts of Kindness for others. The students at the center are encouraged to share their good deeds with Mrs. Bibler, who then puts their names in her RAC basket. On Fridays, we will share the student’s stories and recognize them for their thoughtfulness. Volunteers, staff, students and our partners are encouraged to participate.

A Random Act of Kindness is one that is performed by a person or persons wishing to either assist or cheer up a stranger. There will generally be no other reason than to make people smile, or to be happier. This gesture maybe either spontaneous or something planned in advance.
