Parent Conferences

Parent Survey, January 07

Thanks for Bob Arthur, our WASC Technical Consultant, we have placed our January 2007 Parent Survey on-line. Parents will be asked to complete this survey next week before or after scheduled conferences with our Academic Coaches. Please follow the link at left and check out how easy this will be.  Our gratitude to Bob for setting this up.

Mid-Year Conferences

90% of our parents have already scheduled their 15 minute conferences after tutoring next week on January 16 or 18, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. We hope to confirm the remaining 10% before those dates and share how all children are doing in our program and learn how we can do even more to share te responsibility for their success. If additional time is needed to discuss specific issues, additional time can be after these conference dates with Jane Hart, Student and Family Coordinator, or Julie Bibler, Tutoring Program.

Old Christmas Cards

Looking for a place to recycle your old Christmas cards?  Drop them off at the WASC, attention Julie Bibler, Tutor Program Administrator, who has plans for using them for craft activities this coming December, 2007. She is also accepting magazines! Pictures 1,2,3 of 8

What's Growing at the WASC?

If you have a chance to visit the WASC, use one of the magnifying glasses and share learning with our students as they scientifically observe and experience the continual growth of crystals.

OU-L/WASC Winter Reading Improvement Program

Dr. June Slobodian and her students attending OU-L will be at our center five Saturday afternoons starting January 13. They will also be here Jan. 27, Feb. 10 and 24 and March 10. There expected to be over 20 university students who will work with approximately 30 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders from West and other schools in the district. We are very pleased to offer services to a considerable number of 3rd graders from Cedar Heights Elementary.

Coming in January 19, 2007

We are excited about the upcoming opportunity for our students to listen to and interact with television personality David Wayne from NBC-4 in Columbus.  David graduated from Ohio University with a degree in journalism and will be here for our Friday Fun Day Time on January 19, 4:00 p.m.

Plan now to attend!  And help thank Julie Bibler for her work in organizing this learning opportunity.
