DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Student and Family Coordinator, 21st CCLC at the West After
School Center
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
Baccalaureate degree
or higher and experience working with at-risk families.
2.
Experience
working with people, especially volunteers, and in a school and/or non-profit community
center.
3.
Ability to work
with community service providers to obtain identified assistance for students
and families as determined and/or assigned.
4.
Ability to work
independently and establish an ambitious work schedule, identify clients, manage
active caseload of students and families, document services provided, and demonstrate
accountability and progress with caseload.
5.
Ability to
operate a computer, programs within Office 2003, and organize
files, and speak and write effectively.
6.
Must successfully
complete background check, physical examination, and complete training in child
abuse prevention, CPR, group problem, communicable diseases, problem
solving facilitation and conflict management and other requirements of ODJFS.
7.
Experience and
competence in a variety of support-group settings (individual student and/or
adult, small groups, and proficient management and presentation skills with
small and large groups.
8.
Ability to
separate and personal value system bias from those of clients.
9.
Ability to
facilitate adult/child individual and/or group problem solving and conflict
management training.
REPORTS: Executive Director, Board of Directors, West After School Center
JOB GOAL: To coordinate
and implement day-to-day parent connections, assist with recruitment and
registration for programs, make contacts and links to support services, solve
conflicts, identify needs, improve relationships and cooperation with school
and WASC, and develop parent services programming for the West After School
Center 21st Century Community Learning Center.
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Open and close, and maintain security of the
center if assigned.
- Assist with the solicitation of volunteers for
the programs sponsored by the West After School
Center.
- Schedule and assist with required staff trainings
and the completion background checks as assigned.
- Develop, arrange, and document a day-to-day
schedule of parent support services for the Center/School.
- Make home visits, work with targeted families in
the home setting, within the community, and/or the school or WASC and
serve as a liaison between parents and school/center.
- Identify student/family needs through referrals,
observations, and interagency collaborations and networking.
- Support families and/or individual family members
and provide training in parenting skills.
- Increase parental involvement in West School activities and assume
responsibility for parent activities at the WASC by establishing a
positive rapport through small group activities, Family Nite, etc.
- Assume a role in the identification, recruitment,
and enrollment of student participants in programs and procure parent
permission and release of information for student participation in
activities, health and psychological testing
- Provide and document positive intervention in
cases of persistent student/family truancy and behavior problems.
- Provide or arrange for transportation of clients
to health clinics, social agencies, job interviews, classes, activities at
the West After School Center or West School.
- Develop, implement, participate, and assume
responsibility for the WASC program activities as appropriate.
- Solicit support and work collaboratively with
social service agencies from within the community that improve the quality
of life for targeted families as well as others of the West School Community.
- Provide direction to other social service
providers and/or volunteers as assigned.
- Report cases of suspected child abuse and neglect
to the proper agency.
- Develop, maintain, and provide timely reports and
records to the Executive Director of the WASC and 21st Century
Program Administrators as requested.
Complete monthly and annual year-end reports of services provided.
- Attend WASC Board of Directors meetings, IATs, and
others related to the 21st Century grant as requested.
- Work cooperatively and in collaboration with the
Principal, staff, parents, and students of West Elementary School
to enlighten them of parent support services and encourage them to make
use of services as directed by the WASC Executive Director.
- Be thoroughly familiar with the local, state, and
federal requirements and regulations for parent support work.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as may
be assigned by the Executive Director.
ANNUAL WORK SCHEDULE: 204 days
within a fiscal year (July 1-June 30)
COMPENSATION: $30,000-35,000 (no benefits)
Compensation is based on an 8 hr. day with flexibility
of daily starting and ending times as well as number of days worked each week
dependent on activities and the needs of targeted families/clients. A weekly/monthly/annual work schedule will be
mutually planned and approved in advance by the Executive Director
